1 injured in 2-vehicle crash

On Jan. 2, it was reported by the Illinois State Police that one person suffered minor injuries in a car accident. The crash occurred on Illinois 148 near the Grassy Road intersection in Williamson County.

Authorities stated that a 19-year-old female driver was traveling north in her 2003 Jeep Liberty when the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo in front of her slowed down to turn into a private driveway. She failed to slow down and rear-ended the Aveo. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. It was not stated if the Aveo's driver or passenger suffered injuries.

The 19-year-old was cited for failing to reduce her speed and for failing to wear her seat belt. The 28-year-old male driver of the Aveo was cited for not having a valid driver's license. The 39-year-old passenger was taken into police custody after authorities determined that she had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest. Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash and had to be towed away.

A car accident injury can cause a person to be unable to work or even live life as normal. Even if the accident is relatively minor, complications can arise days or even months following the incident. A personal injury attorney can assist with documenting the full extent of the person's injuries in addition to the damages they sustained. They may attempt to negotiate with the responsible driver's insurance company in order to recover the cost of medical bills, lost income and potential future medical costs, especially if the person needs rehabilitation. If the insurance company refuses to come to an agreement outside of court, the case could potentially go to trial.
